6 Lok Sabha MPs of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) have rebelled against the party.
MP Sanjay Raut has termed the incident 'not a split, but a deal to sell oneself'.
Raut claimed that there is a dispute among the rebel MPs over a minister's post and one will get a ministry while the rest will get a compensation of 25 crores.
BJP leader Girish Mahajan has described Sanjay Raut as a 'human bomb' for Uddhav Thackeray.
Mumbai | An earthquake has once again struck Maharashtra's politics. The Shiv Sena (UBT) led by Uddhav Thackeray has suffered a second major blow within four years. 6 Lok Sabha MPs of the party have sounded the bugle of rebellion, intensifying speculation about a change in the state's political equations.
Although no official statement has come from the rebel MPs yet, Shiv Sena (UBT)'s chief spokesperson and MP Sanjay Raut has taken charge. He launched a scathing attack on the rebel MPs, calling it a political 'deal'.
'This is not a split, but a deal' - Sanjay Raut
Sanjay Raut has refused to consider this entire episode a split in the party. He said that when someone leaves the party for an ideology, it is called a split.
But when someone sells themselves in the market and someone buys them, it is a deal. Raut alleged that these MPs did not leave the party for any great principle or ideology.
"If a person leaves the party for an ideology, it can be called a split, but when someone puts themselves up for sale in the market and someone buys them, it is not called a split but a deal."
He said that two days ago, 6 MPs of his party presented themselves in the political market and then they were bought after a bid.
Claim of tussle over minister's post
Making another sensational claim, Sanjay Raut said that there is a huge tussle within the rebel faction over the minister's post. According to him, every rebel MP wants a place in the Union Cabinet, which has created a dispute among them.
'Compensation' of 25 crores?
Raut claimed that a compromise was reached late at night to resolve this dispute. He said, "The solution found is that only one rebel will get a minister's post and the remaining five will be given an additional 25 crore rupees as compensation, provided they do not create any ruckus."
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also targeted Sanjay Raut. Maharashtra's Water Resources Minister and BJP leader Girish Mahajan took a jibe at Raut, calling him a 'human bomb'.
Mahajan said that Uddhav Thackeray's party is suffering the most because of Sanjay Raut. He said, "Uddhav has tied him around his neck and his party is paying the price for it."
Mahajan, considered close to Devendra Fadnavis, also said that he had advised Uddhav Thackeray several times to rein in Sanjay Raut, but he did not pay heed.
This is not the first time that Shiv Sena has faced such a rebellion. Earlier in 2022, Eknath Shinde had rebelled with more than 40 MLAs, which led to the fall of Uddhav Thackeray's government.
Now, this rebellion by Lok Sabha MPs is another major blow to the party. It has raised serious questions about the party's influence and future at the national level.
For now, all eyes are on the next move of the rebel MPs. The situation will become completely clear only after their official statement. This development could mark the beginning of a new chapter in Maharashtra's politics.
